Me and My Family: The Power of Collaborative Learning
At the heart of the European School’s pedagogical infrastructure lies Learner Agency and Servant Leadership. We believe that authentic learning extends beyond the classroom walls, becoming a unified journey shared between the “Me” and the “Family.”
Key Pillars of Our Approach:
The Learner as Leader: Our Primary Learners (PLLs) act as co-facilitators and essential partners in the educational process. Through their voice and choice, they shape an environment where learning knows no borders.
Strengthening the Learning Community: We foster a mutually beneficial school-family partnership. The active involvement of parents in collective activities cultivates a deep sense of belonging and shared commitment.
A Transdisciplinary Journey: Students lead their own learning experiences, inviting their families into their inquiry-based journeys. Through storytelling and hands-on demonstrations, they articulate the knowledge, skills, and IB Learner Profile attributes they have developed.
This collaboration does not only enrich knowledge; it develops principled, self-aware individuals who are ready to take meaningful action and bring positive change to the world around them.
The event reflected several key attributes of the IB Learner Profile:
- Communicators – Express ideas confidently and creatively in multiple languages and through various modes of communication; collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.
- Knowledgeable – Explore concepts, ideas, and issues across a range of disciplines, engaging with significant local and global topics.
- Inquirers – Nurture curiosity and develop skills for inquiry and research, fostering a lifelong love of learning.
- Open-Minded – Appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others; seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience.
- Caring – Show empathy, compassion, and respect; have a commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around them.
