European Summer School 2026: A Summer of Inquiry, Creativity, and Discovery

The European School IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) community has successfully concluded another inspiring season of the “European Summer School,” tailored for young inquiries aged 6–10.

Grounded in the transdisciplinary approach, the program seamlessly integrated play, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on experiences. Our aim was to foster the attributes of the IB Learner Profile—encouraging students to be balanced, open-minded, and reflective thinkers—while ensuring an active and creative summer vacation.

The enriched curriculum focused on several key areas:

  • Inquiry and Outdoor Adventures: Field trips to parks, nature reserves, museums, and historical sites stimulated curiosity about the natural and social world. Experiential visits to factories and printing houses provided real-world connections, helping students understand “how the world works.”

  • Creative Workshops and Self-Expression: Through pottery, multi-media collage making, and handicrafts, campers enhanced their fine motor and creative thinking skills. Film screenings and talent shows offered a supportive platform for students to share their perspectives and unique abilities.

  • International-mindedness and Cultural Diversity: Students explored global cultures by learning about diverse traditions, clothing, music, and cuisine. Concurrently, a deep dive into Armenian national heritage—including folk dances, ancient crafts, and folklore—strengthened their sense of identity and cultural appreciation.

  • Approaches to Learning (ATL): New concepts were acquired through structured, play-based inquiry. Fun mathematical puzzles and logic games stimulated critical thinking, while dedicated reading hours and interactive theatrical adaptations sharpened students’ communication and literacy skills.

This summer proved to be a remarkable journey of conceptual understanding, skill development, and lifelong memories.
